HIGH SCHOOLERS TALK I- Team 4 Explores the Power of Small Habits

 As Team 4 , we recently completed an exciting project exploring the impact of our daily routines on our personal growth. Under the guidance of our mentor, Derya Veziroğlu, our team members—Öykü Bedia, Theodora Sorana, and Esra Derya—connected across borders to explore "The Power of Small Habits in Personal Development." Here is a look at our journey and how we brought this project to life: 1. Digital Collaboration (WhatsApp Coordination) Teamwork started with communication. As suggested in our project guidelines, we managed the entire process through a dedicated WhatsApp group. This is where we brainstormed opening hooks, shared our research, and gave each other feedback on our speech drafts. By bringing together educators, students, and local stakeholders, we sought to showcase the power of cross-cultural collaboration and public speaking in ENGLISH. Under the guidance of our mentor, Nida Türkelay, our team members—Ayşenaz, Samet, and Andreea—connected across borders to build a bridge between the medicine of the past and the technology of the future. Our mixed-country team was tasked with exploring a nuanced and highly relevant subject for today's youth: Mental Health, Empathy, and Stronger Communities, with a specific focus on understanding other cultures. Watching our students from Romania and Turkey navigate this theme with maturity, structured effort, and mutual respect has been a rewarding professional experience.   High Schoolers Talk I – How Mixed Teams Prepared Their Speeches and Videos By Bedia TEKŞEN, Ercan Akın Fen Lisesi One of the most exciting aspects of the High Schoolers Talk I eTwinning project was the way students from Türkiye and Romania collaborated in mixed international teams . Each team was assigned a global topic based on the results of a student survey, and under the guidance of their teachers, they began the journey of turning ideas into meaningful speeches and inspiring videos. Collaborative Writing The process started with students drafting their speeches on Google Documents . Working together online, they used a shared speech template to structure their ideas into introduction, body, and conclusion. This template helped them organize their thoughts, attract the attention of listeners, and ensure their arguments flowed logically.   High Schoolers Talk I: Pre-Survey Insights By Sorana Necula, Colegiul National George Coșbuc, Cluj-Napoca, Romania Setting the Stage As part of the launch of the international eTwinning project High Schoolers Talk I , a pre-survey was conducted among 21 participating students. The findings highlight what motivates them, the themes they care about, and the challenges they anticipate. These insights will guide the project’s activities and ensure they align with student needs. Motivation: Dialogue Across Borders The survey revealed that students are most excited about connecting with peers from other countries. Over half (57.1%) said their biggest motivation is live discussions with international students . This shows that the project is valued not just as a public speaking exercise, but as a chance for genuine intercultural exchange.
