HIGH SCHOOLERS TALK I- Team 4 Explores the Power of Small Habits
As Team 4, we recently completed an exciting project exploring the impact of our daily routines on our personal growth. Under the guidance of our mentor, Derya Veziroğlu, our team members—Öykü Bedia, Theodora Sorana, and Esra Derya—connected across borders to explore "The Power of Small Habits in Personal Development."
Here is a look at our journey and how we brought this project to life:
1. Digital Collaboration (WhatsApp Coordination) Teamwork started with communication. As suggested in our project guidelines, we managed the entire process through a dedicated WhatsApp group. This is where we brainstormed opening hooks, shared our research, and gave each other feedback on our speech drafts. Even though we were in different schools, the group kept our "team spirit" alive!
2. Research & Content Creation We divided our TED-style talk into three key stages to give a complete and impactful presentation:
Öykü Bedia (Introduction): She researched the foundation of our topic. By defining what habits are—ranging from healthy and social habits to motivation and self-discipline—she crafted a powerful opening to grab the audience's attention and explain why this topic truly matters.
Theodora Sorana (The Body): She focused on the core message and evidence. Theodora explored the facts and stories behind small habits, showing how motivation and self-discipline are the building blocks to creating a better future for ourselves.
Esra Derya (Conclusion): She gathered our main ideas for a strong finish. Her work emphasized the core message that "small changes yield big results," challenging the audience with a powerful call to action to rethink their daily routines.
3. Speech Design & Presentation Preparation We wanted our message to be engaging and structurally perfect, not just a simple reading. To do this:
We used detailed Plan Templates to map out our Opening Hooks, Main Points, and Ending Techniques.
We carefully selected presentation strategies—like sharing personal stories, surprising facts, and emotional appeals—to make our final speech dynamic, persuasive, and high-energy.
Final Thoughts This project was more than just a speaking assignment; it was a lesson in global collaboration and self-improvement. By combining our research with structured planning and digital communication, we learned that building a better future—and delivering a great presentation—is all about taking small, consistent steps together.
